CRITICAL THINKING
South Korean Won reflects onto the culture as past leaders are the ones showing on the money. Yi Hwang was a Korean Scholar during the Joseon Dynasty. He portrays the 1000₩ bill. If you turn the bill around, you'll be able to see the acadamy he had set up known as Dosan Seowon. Moving onto the 5000₩ bill, Yi I was another one of a well known scholar along side with Yi Hwang. On the back of the bill were pantings of plants and animals his mother had painted. On the 10,000₩, you can see the fourth king of the Joseon Dynasty, Sejong the Great. He was the one that invented Hangul, the language spoken in Korea today and not only did he increased the literacy rate, but also in science, technology, polocies and military. Flipping the bill over would be two of Korea's national treasures. Last would be the 50,000₩ , this bill features Shin Saimdang, the first female to protray a South Korean banknote. She was a famour painter and calligrapher in early 1500's. Turning the bill around would be a painting painted by Shim Saimdang's daughter. Many of the people on the Korean bills have been said to be heros. Depicting them on the Korean bills were to show great honor.
